Bundesinnenministerin Nancy Faeser hat das "Compact"-Magazin verboten. Seit den frühen Morgenstunden durchsuchen Beamte die Geschäftsräume von "Compact" in Falkensee und Werder bei Berlin und Potsdam. Auch die Wohnräume von Chefredakteur Jürgen Elsässer und seiner Frau sowie von weiteren "Compact"-Beschäftigten werden nach Beweismitteln durchsucht.

Rechtsgrundlage für das Verbot ist das Vereinsrecht, wonach auch Unternehmen, die sich gegen die freiheitlich-demokratische Grundordnung richten, vom Bundesinnenministerium verboten werden können. Begründet wird das Verbot mithilfe einer umfangreichen Materialsammlung des Bundesamts für Verfassungsschutz, an der auch der brandenburgische Verfassungsschutz beteiligt war. Sowohl das Bundesamt als auch der Landesverfassungsschutz beobachten "Compact" seit Jahren und bewerten das Medium seit Ende 2021 als "gesichert rechtsextremistisch".
